Goin Uptown
If you own Raphael Saadiq's album Instant Vintage you get the reference for the title of this post. If you don't own Instant Vintae, it's well worth checking out. Along with the Saadiq allusion this title refers to the fact that I'll finally be making some appearances in NYC's famous uptown, aka, Harlem. The first appearance is this Saturday July 21, 2007 at the Harlem Book Fair. Time and location of my panel has not been confirmed as of yet, so please refer here for more info.
The second Harlem appearance is a reading at Hue-Man Bookstore and Cafe on Wednesday July 25, 2007 from 6pm - 8pm. I look forward to seeing you there if not sooner.
Other big news is the positive reception of the performance at Brooklyn Museum's First Saturday where I showcased the first iteration of "Vocab," a play adapted from the book to a sell out crowd. This performance was curated by Desiree Gordon and Eleanor Whitney. I have posted pictures in the picture gallery and there are more photos on the Museum's flickr page.
Hopefully, I will be able to build on the momentum from the first Saturday performance and bring this work to life in a few form/medium.
As always, thank you for your continued prayers and support.
Be well,
FL
