2G2K Circus : Weekend Round up
If you were asleep over the weekend, here's a quick recap of what transpired in our Presidential Circus Campaign:
Jeff continues fighting off evil spambots...
Barack Obama won primaries or caucuses in Louisiana, Maine, Nebraska and Washington. He is also ocmpeting as a favorite in tomorrow's contests in Washington D.C. and Virginia.
Hillary Clinton's campaign chief, Patti Solis Doyle, resigned and was replaced by Maggie Williams, another longtime Clinton ally.
John McCain's first weekend as the likely Republican nominee was highlighted by sound defeats by Mike Huckabee in Kansas and Louisiana's state primaries. Result's of another of the weekend's primaries, Washington State, is being contested by Huckabee's camp after state officials halted vote counting and named McCain the victor.
If you're keeping score at home we have spambots, Huckabee has channeled his inner T.I. and has taken to calling himself the "Candidate of the South," Obama continues surging and Hillary Clinton and John McCain just keep on keepin' on.
In other news:
Nobel Winner Doris Lessing offers this harrowing prediction for Obama.
If you've been following the critical pieces on Clinton's campaign by Maureen Dowd, Frank Rich et al. that have been appearing in the NYTimes like I have, you'll find this commentary from New York Magazine of interest. Jesse Oxfeld offeres an intriguing theory behind The Times's Clinton endorsement that seems to contradict their columnists's support of Obama.
Washington Post's Dan Balz takes a look at Obama and Clinton's quest for an endorsement from John Edwards.
Meanwhile, less than a week after Super Tuesday, The Atlanta Journal Constitution appears to have moved on to weightier matters such as Atlanta Braves spring training and last night's Grammy Awards because readers now have to dig in order to find any campaign coverage. They did manage to link this AP post about Huckabee refusing to quit on their front page.
