Wow, you're lucky that you're holed up inside the house because predicting a Clinton victory can not be all that kosher out in the yay. Although, if I have to be honest with myself, I think you're right.
If we look at this Reacl Clear Politics Poll for example, Edwards has only 15% of the vote. That number appears to be too low for someone that popular in the region, who won that primary in 2004, and who performed admirably at the most recent debate. Edwards will play a critical role in this election as it moves forward and South Carolina will likely give us a clearer sense of that role.
This campaign is far from over and personally I think the media outlets want it to get juicier so that they'll have even less of an incentive to compromise with striking writers. A strong Edwards finish it South Carolina likely gives him the bump he needs, and will generate some more air time for him. If you look closely he performed in the days following Monday's debate like a primary victor. He even did Letterman on Tuesday night, and since I'm not privy to the local reporting in South Carolina, I can not say how much press he is getting down there, but he's looking awfully good these days.
Edwards also said something on Monday that caught my attention. In the sit down he mentioned that polls indicate he has the best chance of beating John McCain. That kind of statement gets overlooked by news outlets, but, it just might get him some votes, and maybe just enough votes for Democrats who had to sit through McCain's recent victory in SC to swing their vote to Edwards.
Speaking of McCain, will we ever touch on les republicans?
