Email Scams

For a person who checks his email as often as I actually do a fairly poor job of reading many of the messages that I receive.  Sometimes it takes two or three reviews before I reply or follow up on a request in a message.  And for reasons I still have yet to understand I am particularly slow when it comes to messages requiring a simple "yes" or "no" answer.  It's almost as if I take more time, my answer will change or somehow become more profound.

This mindless habit does not make much sense because with the dramatic improvements in spam filters over the years especially, and my own careful management of list-serv membership, I do not get that much spam.  Therefore, if something lands in my inbox, odds are it deserves to be in there.  That said, there are a few instances, like the one pasted below, where spam/an email scam manages to sneak in under the radar of the spam filter.  I can't remember whether I was on a plane, train or automobile when I noticed Mr. Evergreen LaPlant's email asking me to help him launder his money from London to the United States, but I remember thinking, "gee, this dude is really polite."

His politeness more than the opportunity to make a fortune is what would have better tempted me to follow up with this hustle than the prospects of making a small fortune.   Oddly enough though, even if I had been swayed by his cordiality, the requirements are just so involved.  It seems that while there are a number of things I am gladly willing to work hard to accomplish I become surprising lackadaisical when it comes to capitalizing on such a unique opportunity as the one proposed by Mr. LaPlant.  While I am sure this works against me (and you as well) sometimes, in moments like this I'm glad to have it holding me back.

If you encounter Mr. LaPlant, his artwork, or his associates, please offer them a kind hello for me and my apologies for not being able to take advantage of their very generous offer.

Hello,

My name is Evergreen LaPlant, I am an artist i own EVERGREEN ART WORLD in London (United Kingdom).I do sell my art and painting to people all around the world mostly Americans. I am always facing serious difficulties when it comes to selling my art Works to Americans, they are always offering to pay with MONEY ORDER, which is difficult for me to cash here in London United Kingdom.

I am looking for a representative in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA who will be working for me, as a part-time worker and I will be willing to pay 10% for every transaction, which wouldn't affect your present state of work,I mean a sincer someone who would help me receive payments from my customers in the States because the cost of coming to the state and getting payments is very expensive to me.The payment would come to you in form of USA money order or cashier checks in your name, so all you need to do is to cash the payment deduct 10% and send the  remaining 90% Via Western Union Money Transfer, transfer fees will be deducted from the 90% so you are rest assured that you wouldn't spend a dime out of your personalmoney.

I am working on setting up a branch in the state, so for now i need a representative in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA that can cash money order and who would be handling  the payment respect for me till when i would complete the office.
