On the Road Again
This time not for the book however: Melofaith and I are slowly making our way across the country to Oakland California where I will be in residence from September through December. The written updates between now and mid-September might be few and far in between, but know that there's quite a bit in the works. The biggest project is a college tour that is still rounding into form, of which I look forward to sharing the details very soon. I am also working on bring Songs to life in a different form/medium and promise to keep everyone abreast of that as well. In the meantime be sure to check out my flickr page for latest updates and keep your ears to the ground for when I'll be hitting a city near you.
Society Coffee
Last night's reading at Society Coffee went really well. A good number of souls braved the rain and New York's suddenly rain-sensitive transit in order to come through. I told the stories that inspired "Vocab" in honor of Lauryn Hill's recent NYC performance and Wingate field, and concluded the evening with a reading of the "Thriller" vignette. It appeas that I really need to get my dance routine together before picking up the book tour again in the fall. When DJ Parler (pronounced par-lay), last night's DJ, threw on "Thriller" the audience was expecting a dance performance a la the king of pop, or at least one of his disciples (i.e. Usher or Chris Brown). While my inner Alfonso Ribeiro was yearning to come out, I held fast to reserving such forays for the upcoming remix of Songs in the Key of My Life.
It was a pleasure reading at Society Coffee and I dearly appreciated working with their event coordinator Nicole Forman and in-house turntable wizard, DJ Parler. Hopefully I will have some photos from the event to post by the middle of next week.
As always thank you for your continued support and let's see each other soon.

New Site For Authors
Bryant Terry recently referred me to this new website for authors and book lovers, Www.Booktour.com. Now you can track your favorite authors, or simply check out who is reading in your area. Both Bryant and I have established author pages on the site, so please check them out and keep an eye out for literary happenings in your neighborhood.
